SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 12

New, 2 comments

None of the top three managed to win this week, so the chasing pack had the chance to gain some ground. Who took advantage?

Jay Bruce trots around the bases. Saw a lot of that last week, didn't we?

Week 12 Results

AZ SnakePit 2, Got Grittiness? 7
Got came within a Run of sweeping hitting, with Hitter of the Week Bruce clubbing an incredible six HR (though with the minimum six runs and only driving in seven!). Snake got two HR and six RBI from Young, and Papelbon vultured two wins for them. Miller got a W + 10 K for Grittiness.

MyWieterGetzLongoria 6, Blonde Streaks 3
Wieter moved up to third, behind Pitcher of the Week Harvey (two W, 19 K) supported by Samardzija (two W, 11 K) - Encarnacion had three HR and drove in eight on offense. Blonde got three RBI and seven RBI from Howard, while Nathan picked up a league-best five Saves this round.

Phoenix Platypi 4, The Fighting Amish 6
The Amish had their best week in a month, pounding 15 Home-runs, with three apiece for Ramirez, Wright and Ruggiano, their hitters batting a collective .330. Davis (four HR, 10 RBI) continued to hit for Phoenix, but Latos got a W and 22 K for Fighting, who had a sub-three ERA.

Alabama Slammers 5. Space Wizard 2
Offense was very close, with R, HR and SB all ending tied: Desmond had three HR and drove in seven for Alabama, with Votto and Trumbo homering twice for Space. Alabama pulled away on pitching, Janssen notching a W + three Sv; Space were winless, but Cain struck out 18.

Waffles 9, CompleteGameShutout 1
After losing games by a combined 1-19 score, Waffles have won their last two by the same, pounding Complete. Cruz led the charge, with three HR and 11 RBI; Longoria also had three HR and Cishek three Sv. Complete got a W + 15 K from Johnson, the former their only point.

Sofa King Juiced 5, Dirt McGrit 5
The week's closest game saw leaders Sofa held to a tie by Dirt. De Aza and Mauer had two HR for the latter, and Delgado fanned ten for them. However, Juiced countered with a Win and 10 strikeouts by Maholm, and Rio's trio of SB allowed them to hold on and avoid the defeat.

Mizzoula Osprey 4, Moved Upton 5
Second-placed Osprey were narrowly defeated by Upton, with a tie in SB proving decisive. The Osprey otherwise swept the hitting categories, led by Goldschmidt (four HR, six RBI). However, Moved took all five pitching points, with Liriano's W and 12 K's their best performance.

SnakePit vs. Upton is the ESPN Game of the WEek - the only one featuring teams that are both in the top half of the league. Wainwright has anchored Snake's rotation, ranked #10 player overall, with Pence (#31) their best hitter. For Upton, the same positions are occupied by Scherzer (#7) and Donaldson (#58), so it should be a good contest.
