I know, I sound like a broken record. Owings can hit, I get it. he just refuses to cool off and must like garnering the MiLB Round-Up headlines and Snake Stars. Because he did it again last night going 3 for 5 with 5 RBI and a grand slam. He wasn't the only Reno Ace to pad their stats yesterday as Reno scored 17 runs including 9 in the first inning. Mike Jacobs hit another home run and is hitting .438 since being rescued from the Mexican League. Matt Davidson hit a 3-run homer. Ed Easley went 3 for 5, and the list goes on and on. I don't honestly know how he does considering how rarely he walks. He must have amazing bat control because pitchers must know they don't have to throw him strikes to get him to swing. And yet he still puts up multiple hits night after night. He's fun to watch,
Snake Stars

Triple A: Reno 18 @ Tucson 7.Chris Owings clubbed a grand slam in the first inning to go along with Matt Davidson's 3-run homer to highlight a 9-run 1st inning. Owings finished with 3 hits and 5 RBI. Mike Jacobs also had 3 hits and his 5th home run in 12 games for Reno. Ed Easley added 3 hits and 3 RBI. Newly signed Nate Adcock started and was effective going 5 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks.
Double A: Mobile 0 @ Pensacola 4. Archie Bradley started and was very good outside of one bumpy inning in which he allowed 4 singles and 2 runs. A subsequent error by the catcher allowed 2 more runs to score and that was all the scoring for the game. Bradley completed 7 innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks with 7 strikeouts. He still maintains a 1.50 ERA in AA. The offense did nothing in support of Bradley with just 5 singles, 3 by Raywilly Gomez.
High A: Visalia 8 San Jose 10. The Rawhide lost a back and forth affair when San Jose's bullpen out-dueled Visalia's. Robert Coe started and allowed 7 runs in 4+ innings. Matt Sample took the loss in relief when he allowed single runs in the 7th and 8th innings. On offense Matt Helm did his part with 2 home runs and 4 RBI.
Low A: South Bend 0 Dayton 2. J.R. Bradley was given his first start since April due to a string of successful relief appearances. The results were mildly encouraging. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings, but just one unearned run was allowed to score. The bullpen surrendered just 1 more run in 5 innings but the offense did not show up garnering just 5 hits and no runs. Breland Almadova went 2 for 3 with a double.
Short Season A: Hillsboro 6 Salem-Keizer 7. The Hops lost their 3rd consecutive game to start the season as Karl Triana got roughed up on the mound and the offense couldn't quite come all the way back. Triana got bounced after 3 innings allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits and a walk. Josh Parr had a big night going 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 stolen bases. Zach Esquerra went 2 for 3 with 2 walks and a 2-run homer in the 7th that closed the gap to one run. Grant Nelson and Yogey Perez-Ramos also had a pair of hits each.
