Not much was thought about the Dbacks' acquisition of shortstop Sean Jamieson from the Athletics in the trade of Stephen Drew. He hadn't really done much in his season-and-a-half with the Oakland organization. But he sure likes the environs of the Dbacks organization much better for some reason. In 2012 prior to the trade Jamieson had been hitting .234 with a .724 OPS. After the trade he hit .327 with a .903 OPS.in Low A South Bend. He was promoted to Visalia for 2013 and so far he's hitting .281 with an .813 OPS, and 5 home runs. He's outplaying a certain other shortstop prospect acquired in the Justin Upton trade that was more highly regarded. It's not to say Jamieson is headed to the show in the next few years but he's playing well and you can never discount anyone who is playing well and moving forward. He had another good game last night going 2 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and 3 runs scored. He's still worth watching.

Triple A: Reno 7 Sacramento 9. Mike Bolsinger couldn't duplicate his first start in AAA and had a rough outing allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. Matt Gorgen followed and allowed 3 more runs in 2+ innings. The offense pecked away to get within a couple of runs as they rapped out 14 hits and 7 runs but it was a couple of runs short. Mike Jacobs had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Chris Owings went 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Ed Easley and Juan Rivera each had a single and a double.
Double A: Mobile - off day
High A: Visalia 14 @ Bakersfield 9. A pitcher's duel it was not as both offenses combined for 27 hits and 23 runs. Visalia blew it open in the 5th when they scored 7 runs that featured 4 singles, 2 walks, a hit batter and a double by Ryan Court. Every batter in the lineup had at least 1 hit and 5 hitters had 2 hits. Cody Wheeler wasn't his best but kept the game under control in spite of allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 5 walks. Kerry Jenkins went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles to lead the explosive offense.
Low A: South Bend 2 @ Lansing 6. After 5 straight starts in which he hadn't allowed more than 1 earned run, Blake Perry allowed 6 runs in 5 innings of work. The bullpen added 3 perfect innings with 6 strikeouts but the offense couldn't make up the difference. Rudy Flores hit his 6th home run and of his 25 hits this year 15 have gone for extra bases. His OPS through 24 games is a scintillating 1.014. Socrates Brito also had 2 hits including a double.
