Diamondbacks 3, Dodgers 5

What started out as a pitcher's duel on Tuesday night turned into a more of a brawl on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Both pitchers kept posting zeroes through the early innings until a Jason Kubel home run in the fifth gave Arizona a 2-0, matched by an Andre Ethier home run in the sixth.

Both those home runs brought in runners who had reached base via a hit by pitch- Cody Ross in the fifth and Yasiel Puig in the sixth. Those HBPs became the focus of the game later on, as the Dodgers retaliated by hitting Miguel Montero in the seventh, clearing the benches and leading to warnings being issued to both teams. When Ian Kennedy his Zack Greinke with a pitch in the bottom of the inning, benches cleared again, a pretty busy scuffle broke out, and ejections were handed out to both teams.

The Diamondbacks rallied in the eighth inning, with Willie Bloomquist bringing A.J. Pollock in to score and give Arizona a lead. But David Hernandez couldn't hold on in the bottom of the inning, giving up three walks and allowing a double to Tim Federowicz to give LA a 5-3 lead. Kenley Jansen, newly appointed as the Dodgers closer today, came in for the ninth to close the door with a 1-2-3 inning and give LA the win.
