SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 10

There's a gap behind the top two, but only 8.5 points - less than a week's play - separate third and 11th places after this round of contests.

Week 10 Results

AZ SnakePit 7, The Fighting Amish 2
Snake moved into third with this solid victory against last-placed Amish, though they took R and W by one, and BA by .002. Saltalamacchia got three HR and seven RBI, while Locke fanned 13 and Reed got a W and two Sv. For the Amish, Ortiz had three HR and 12 RBI.

MyWieterGetzLongoria 3, Space Wizard 5
A low-scoring affair, the sides managing 34 runs between them: Trumbo (Space) was the only player with two HR, also driving in six, providing their crucial margin in both categories. Pitching was even, with Sv tied: Hernandez (Wieter) had a W + 15 K; Burnett a W + 10 K for Wizard.

Phoenix Platypi 5, CompleteGameShutout 5
The week's closest game saw Phoenix edge things at the plate behind Uggla's three HR and seven RBI, but Complete did the same on the mound, with Rivera's four Saves leading the way. Phoenix got two W + 12 K from Dempster, while Shutout had five RBI by Hardy.

Alabama Slammers 4, Dirt McGrit 6
McGrit got 8 wins from 8 different arms, Zimmermann leading with way with 12 shutout K's, Teheran one strikeout back. His Atlanta teammate, Medlen got two W + 12 K for Alabama, who also enjoyed three HR and 12 RBI from Gonzalez; Beltran had two HR and eight RBI for Dirt.

Waffles 1, Mizzoula Osprey 9
Waffles haven't had an easy schedule, playing the top two in successive weeks. But losing 1-19? Ouch. Only K's stood between them and another whitewash: Phelps had 13. For Osprey, Wilhelmsen had three Sv, Cespeded homered four times, and Goldzilla drove in a dozen.

Sofa King Juiced 6, Moved Upton 2
Sofa has also had a tough set of fixtures (and it won't get easier, as we'll see), but has passed the test. They got three home-runs from Beltre, with two HR by Holliday, with nine RBI. Wins and Saves ended all-square, with Johnson notching a trio of Saves for Moved.

Blonde Streaks 3, Got Grittiness? 6
Grittiness hit .314 with 14 home-runs; Tulowitzki hit four, driving in eight, with Bruce adding two and seven RBI. They also got two Wins and 13 strikeouts by Tillman. Clippard vultured two wins for Blonde, and Brown continued his hot streak, with three HR and seven knocked home.

One fixture leaps out: Sofa vs. Mozzoula, the top two going head-to-head, for the only time this season. They've got a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack in the standings, but as well as bragging rights, there'll be a psychological advantage for the winner, because I wouldn't be surprised at all to see these two meet in the post-season, quite possibly for all the marbles in the final round.
