Diamondbacks 3, Dodgers 2

The Diamondbacks finished their road trip on a strong note Wednesday night behind the arm of Wade Miley and the bat of Paul Goldschmidt. Miley rebounded from a rough outing in his last start by shutting down the Dodgers offense, holding them to just two runs in 7.2 innings pitched. Clayton Kershaw was just as tough on the mound for Los Angeles, but the Dodgers defense proved to be a source of trouble for them, committing three errors, including a crucial mistake by Dee Gordon to let Didi Gregorius reach base in the sixth. That put a runner on for Paul Goldschmidt, who hit a two run home run to tie the game, and then followed it up with a solo shot in the eighth for the lead and his first multi-home run game of his career. Heath Bell came in for the ninth in his first outing as closer after J.J. Putz's trip to the DL this afternoon and earned the save as the Diamondbacks swept the Dodgers.
