Preview: Game #33: Diamondbacks @ Dodgers

The Diamondbacks broke out of their slump with a 9-2 pounding on the Dodgers last night. Can it continue?

Brandon McCarthy
RHP, 0-3, 7.22

Josh Beckett
RHP, 0-4, 5.24

Diamondbacks Line-up

  1. Gerardo Parra - CF
  2. Didi Gregorius - SS
  3. Paul Goldschmidt - 1B
  4. Miguel Montero - C
  5. Eric Chavez - 3B
  6. Cody Ross - RF
  7. Jason Kubel - LF
  8. Cliff Pennington - 2B
  9. Brandon McCarthy - P

The Diamondbacks are looking to take advantage of a struggling Josh Beckett, who is winless to open the season. (Outside of the 0-4, the Dodgers are 1-1 in Beckett's no-decisions.) Paul Goldschmidt seems to have found a new team to torture with his prowess with the bat - he was 4-for-5 last night, hitting his first home run in about two weeks. Goldschmidt has a career line of .391/.472/.609/1.080 at Chavez Ravine. Paul has not yet hit a home run off of Beckett.... I'm just sayin'....

Dodgers Line-Up

  1. Carl Crawford - LF
  2. Dee Gordon - SS
  3. Matt Kemp - CF
  4. Adrian Gonzalez - 1B
  5. Andre Ethier - RF
  6. Ramon Hernandez - C
  7. Skip Schumaker - 2B
  8. Nick Punto - 3B
  9. Josh Beckett - P

Considering the Dodgers just made another move and put Jerry Hairston Jr. on the disabled list, I'm surprised they have enough players to field a team....

The Dodgers are hoping to take out their frustrations on poor unsuspecting Brandon McCarthy. The Dodgers have now lost five games in a row and are sitting at the bottom of the NL West. Yes, even behind the Padres. McCarthy is like Beckett, winless to open his season and not particularly great as of late. Here's hoping that Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, et al are still so much in their slumps that Brandon can at least allow fewer than eight hits tonight. (That would be a season-low for him.)

See you back here at 7:10pm for the Gameday Thread.
