Trevor Cahill had a Carl Crawford aided triple to get the scoring started for the D'Backs. A.J. Pollock followed with an RBI double. The Dodgers were able to get within one, but the D'Backs hit the nitro button soon after. Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Ross had back to back home runs in the 5th, and three cheap RBI singles occured in the 9th to make the score 9-2, which was the final score. You knew that if you read the headline.
Cahill also pitched 7 innings with 2 ER. Matt Reynolds and Brad Ziegler pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings, respectively, to finish off the game and take the first game in the three game series.
