After a fairly slow start to his 2013 season Matt Davidson is starting to get his bat in gear. He had a big game last night going 3 for 4 with a double, a homer (his 4th) and 2 RBI. Over his last 10 games Davidson is hitting .317 with 5 doubles, a triple and a homer and an OPS of .887. It's possible he encountered some kind of minor injury early on when he missed several games and that could have been a factor in his slow start. he's seems to be doing fine now and hasn't missed a game for a few weeks now. This is a huge season for Davidson to put the finishing touches on his prospect status and put some pressure on the team to give him a shot at its third base job next season. There are still some concerns about whether his glove can play at the major league level and 7 errors in 28 games doesn't engender many warm and fuzzies about that. But for now at least the bat is starting to play more to his billing and we can hope the defense continues to improve.
Only three games on the agenda and unfortunately Reno lost again with Randall Delgado on the hill, though he was certainly better than he's been of late. Mobile had an off day after playing consecutive doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Visalia lost 5-0 when the the offense went ice cold, and South Bend got waxed as erratic Jesse Darrah had one of his off-nights.

2 Stars: Ryan Court, South Bend 3 for 4, 1 BB, 1 DBL, 2 RBI

Triple A: Reno 4 @ Tacoma 7.Randall Delgado was on the hill and he was a mite better than he's been of late, though it was still hardly an effort to brag about. 5.1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 6 K, 3 ER. But the bullpen wasn't very good either allowing 2 runs in each of the 8th and 9th innings. Matt Davidson did what he could with a 3 for 4 night including his 4th home run, and Chris owings had another 2-hit night.
Double A: Mobile - off day
High A: Visalia 0 @ Stockton 6.The Rawhide offense was nowhere to be found last night as they got shut out and collected just 6 hits on the night, none for extra bases. Starter Conrad Flynn had a below average outing allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks.
Low A: South Bend 4 Cedar Rapids 12. Cedar Rapids decided to let the Silver Hawks know who was king of the hill with a 12-4 whitewashing. Inconsistent Jesse Darrah came with one of his lesser performances, the kind that get you labeled inconsistent, as he allowed two crooked number innings. He only got through 4 innings allowing 7 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. The offense started out well with 4 runs in the first two innings, but that was all they could muster. Fidel Pena had a nice day with a double, a homer and 2 RBI. Ryan Court kept his hot bat going with another 3 for 4 night. Pedro Ruiz had 2 hits with a double and Kevin Medrano added a pair of singles.
