Veteran major league outfielder Juan Rivera joined Reno in early May on a minor league contract and started out pretty cool. But of late he has really started to heat up and had his best game to date last night when he clubbed two home runs and drove in 4 in the Aces' come-from-behind victory. Rivera spent the last 11 years in the majors, mostly with the Angels and Dodgers, but after a steadily declining career he found himself out of a job this past off-season. He joins the Dbacks AAA team as an insurance policy against any further injuries in the Dbacks outfield. An injury to Ross or Kubel might earn Rivera a quick promotion. It's nice to see he can still swing the bat a little should his services be required.

The offense battled back with 5 runs in the 4th and 5th innings behind 2 home runs from Juan Rivera. That was enough for Brewer to earn the win as he went 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and no walks while striking out 6. Matt Davidson went 2 for 4 including his 5th home run. Kila Ka'aihue also had 2 hits including his 14th homer of the season.
Double A: Mobile 4 Mississippi 3. The Bay Bears won in walk-off style on a walk, 2 hits and an error in the bottom of the 10th inning. High A: Visalia 1 @ Rancho Cucamonga 8. The Rawhide got waxed again as Keith Hessler got roughed up a little on the mound. The bullpen followed by allowing 3 more runs, and the offense never got untracked. Sean Jamieson paced the meager offense going 2 for 3 with a double.
Low A : South Bend 5 Lansing 3. Brandon Sinnery had another fine start going 7 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and a walk.
