Dbacks Minor League Round-Up 5/24: More Bradley

Archie Bradley has everything working as he continues to dominate in AA.

Imagine two pitching lines. One pitcher throws 6 innings with 4 strikeouts and no walks. The other also goes 6 innings and strikes out 5 but walks 5. Which outing do you take? Of course you take the outing with no walks. It seems that's all we talk about when evaluating pitchers...walks versus strikeouts. Well, in this case, the line with 5 walks allowed no runs on 2 hits. The other allowed 6 runs on 11 hits. Archie Bradley had the line with 5 walks. He's just getting better and better and I'm pretty sure I'm wearing out the JPG of him. I need some new artwork. I might even dare to say that Bradley could end up being the best player from that loaded 2011 draft. Would you trade Bradley for any of Gerritt Cole, Danny Hultzen, Trevor Bauer, Dylan Bundy, Bubba Starling or Anthony Rendon? It's a good question.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Archie Bradley, Mobile 6 IP, 2 H, 5 BB, 5 K, 0 ER, W (4-0)
2 Stars: Tony Campana, Reno 3 for 4, 3 R, 1 TPL, 2 RBI, 1 SB (15)
1 Star: Justin Greene, Mobile 3 for 4, 2 R, 1 DBL, 1 TPL, 1 RBI
0 Stars: Nick Ahmed, Mobile 0 for 4, (.141 BA)

Triple A: Reno 8 Tacoma 5. Willie Bloomquist made his first rehab start at 2B and went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI to help lead Reno to the win. Zeke Spruill started but was pulled in the 3rd after just 40 pitches. Some speculation he's going to be called up to be available in the bullpen for the Dbacks's doubleheader versus Texas on Monday. Tony Campana had a big game going 3 for 4 with a triple and his 15th stolen base. He's having a great May hitting .344 with 9 stolen bases.

Double A: Mobile 6 Mississippi 2. Archie Bradley is compiling some scary good numbers this year as he put up 6 more shutout innings last night and is now boasting a 0.69 ERA in 5 starts since his promotion to Mobile. He's only allowed 2 earned runs in those 5 starts and just 14 hits in 26 innings. Who doesn't think he could be effective right now in a major league rotation? The offense did its part to support Bradley and earn him his 4th win. Justin Greene went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple. Keon Broxton had 2 more doubles. Raywilly Gomez and Ender Inciarte each added a pair of singles.

High A: Visalia 4 @ Rancho Cucamonga 2. The Rawhide moved to 30-17 as Andrew Barbosa started and went 3 innings allowing 1 run, followed by 4 relievers who allowed 1 run over the final 6 innings. Conrad Flynn earned the win going 4 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks. Jake Barrett pitched a perfect 9th for his 12th save. David Nick homered for the second straight day, this one a 2-run shot in the 4th that was the difference maker. Ryan Court went 2 for 3 with a triple and Gerson Montilla went 2 for 5 with a double.

Low A: South Bend 7 @ Fort Wayne 3. The good Jesse Darrah showed up in this one going 7 strong innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and 0 walks while striking out 4. Darrah really does have some talent and if he could develop some consistency he could go places. Roidany Aguila went 2 for 4 with a double and his 4th homer. South Bend leads the Eastern Division of the Midwest League with a 29-16 record.
