Tyler Skaggs is definitely getting into his groove and has clearly worked out some of the issues that were troubling him this spring and early on in the season. Last night was his best start of the season with one earned run on 5 hits and no walks in 7.2 innings with a whopping 10 strikeouts. He had a shutout through 6 innings, gave up a solo homer in the 7th with 2 outs, and allowed an unearned run on a 2-out error by Matt Davidson. Skaggs is getting himself well positioned to jump into a rotation spot as soon as the need arises, knock on wood.

Triple A: Reno 6 @ Round Rock 2. Tyler Skaggs was completely dominating in the win taking a shutout into the 7th when he allowed a solo home run. He left after 7.2 innings following an error by Matt Davidson that let in another run. Skaggs threw 103 pitches and along with his 10 strikeouts induced 8 grounders and just 3 fly ball outs. To make up for his error Davidson went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Tony Campana went 2 for 4 and stole his 14th base. Ed Easley hit a big 3-run homer in the team's 4-run 4th. Chris Owings stole his 9th base.

Double A: Mobile - off day

High A: Visalia - off day

Low A: South Bend 4 @ Fort Wayne 2. Blake Perry started and had his second consecutive good outing, though he only managed to go 4 innings. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. Over his last two starts he's allowed one run on 4 hits and 6 walks with 9 strikeouts over 9 innings. Henry Garcia relieved Perry and was even better throwing 4 shutout innings to earn the win. RJ Hively pitched a scoreless 9th for his 10th save. A 2-run homer by Rudy Flores in the 2nd and a solo shot in the 3rd by Breland Amadova was all the offense that was needed.
