David Holmberg is settling into a pretty good groove in AA Mobile. He doesn't turn 22 until August and is pitching like a veteran in start after start. Yesterday he tossed 7 more more quality innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk. In his last 5 starts encompassing 32 innings he has 29 strikeouts and just 4 walks. He has amazing control for such a young pitcher. If you want to nitpick about Holmberg he doesn't have the gaudy strikeout totals that some of the top prospects have. But he still gets his share of them. At some point he, Bradley and Skaggs are all going to be challenging for rotation spots for Arizona.
Reno lost 6-5 to a walk-off infield single after rallying for 4 runs in the top of the 9th. David Holmberg pitched Mobile to a 6-3 win over Pensacola. Visalia won 4-0 behind 7 shutout innings from Kyle Schepel. And South Bend lost as Daniels Watts had a rare poor start.
