Diamondbacks 6, Giants 9

Looking to fend off the potential sweep from the San Francisco Giants, the Arizona Diamondbacks certainly stumbled in their goal tonight. Brandon McCarthy gave up a solo home run to Angel Pagan with his second pitch of the night, and the game didn't get a whole lot better from there. The offense managed to get to Tim Lincecum, ringing up five runs off of him, including a home run from Cliff Pennington. However, once Lincecum left the game after five innings, the offense was quiet against the Giants bullpen, only scratching across one run in the sixth inning.

The Diamondbacks bullpen wasn't as successful, though. McCarthy left the game with a 6-4 lead after six innings, but David Hernandez gave up a 3 run home run to Brandon Belt in the eighth inning to give San Francisco the lead, and Heath Bell allowed two more in the top of the ninth to put a stake through the Diamondbacks rally chances. Arizona has the day off tomorrow to recover from this defeat before they take on San Diego on Friday.
