Gerardo Parra homered the first pitch in the entire game from Tom Koehler and that was the only run that crossed the plate as the Diamondbacks took the win over the Miami Marlins by the score of 1-0. Brandon McCarthy pitched the first complete game for the D'Backs this season, and he got his first win of the season. McCarthy only gave up three hits and two walks and struck out five in the shutout.
The only chance the Marlins had was in the bottom of the first. With Derek Dietrich on second base, Chris Coghlan hit a liner just out of the reach of Martin Prado. However, Parra was able to get it and gunned it to the plate in front of Dietrich and Miguel Montero applied the tag and Dietrich was called out. Replays show that it was a fairly close call and Dietrich might have been safe. However, it was a bang bang play and it being called either way would have probably been "right". It was not the most egregious umpiring decision of the game. What was the worst? Find out in the full recap, coming soon!
