Mobile evened their record at 2-2 with a 2-1 win over Mississippi in which Bradin Hagens had an excellent start going 7 innings allowing 1 run. Visalia got off to a fast start against San Jose with another home run by Jake Lamb, but Kyle Winkler's first professional start didn't go so well and they lost 5-3. South Bend couldn't get the offense untracked in a 6-0 loss.

Triple A: Reno 14 @ Colorado 1. Tyler Skaggs was masterful in his season debut with 6 shutout innings and the Reno offense got untracked in a big way. Tyler Bortnick had a huge day with 3 hits including a double, a home run and 4 RBI. Kila Ka'aihue had 3 hits including his first home run, and Mark Teahen also had 3 hits including a double and an RBI. But perhaps most exciting of all...Chris Owings walked.
Double A: Mobile 2 Mississippi 1: Bradin Hagens was terrific allowing just one run on 4 hits over 7 innings, and the offense scratched out solo runs in the 5th and the 7th to make him a winner. Jon Griffin drove in both runs with a ground out and a single. Eric Smith pitched a perfect 9th for his first save.
High A: Visalia 3 San Jose 5. The Rawhide got off to an early 3-0 lead capped off by Jake Lamb's 2nd homer of the year. But Kyle Winkler, in his first professional start, ran into trouble in the 4th and 5th and surrendered 5 runs before leaving in the 5th with 2 outs. The offense was unable to rally from behind. Winkler spent all of 2012 pitching out of the bullpen after missing all of 2011 to arm surgery. The team said they planned to try to get him back to starting this year and he got off to a decent start but seemed to run out of gas. Not a major concern yet as he's still climbing over health and conditioning hurdles. It was just good to see him out there competing. He's a talented pitcher who still has some serious upside.
Low A: South Bend 0 Bowling Green 5. The Silver Hawks' offense was nonexistent as they collected just 4 hits on the day. Blake Perry started and wasn't too bad allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3 in 5 innings. A good chunk of the South Bend lineup is off to poor starts with the exception of Socrates Brito.
