Diamondbacks Spring Training: Gameday Thread, #14, vs. Angels

Not going to write very much specific for this one, because there's a pretty significant chance the D-backs game will be rained out. However, the WBC contest between Italy and Canada kicks off a few minutes after noon at Chase Field, so we can certainly talk about that....

Here's the Diamondbacks line-up for the game over at Tempe Diablo, conditions permitting.

  2. Cliff Pennington SS
  3. Aaron Hill 2B
  4. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  5. Jason Kubel LF
  6. Mark Teahen 3B
  7. A.J. Pollock RF
  8. Wil Nieves C
  9. Didi Gregorius DH
+ pitchers Randall Delgado, Josh Collmenter, David Holmberg, Brad Ziegler, Rommie Lewis

We played the Angels already here, on February 27th, when our split-squad team ended up getting a 7-7 tie, blowing a late lead. This kinda feels like a split-squad game too, especially in the outfield, where I hope we don't lose any more players. Currently missing for Arizona are Cody Ross (calf), Gerardo Parra (WBC) and now, Tony Campana (hand). Not quite sure who we're going to see once the usual fifth-inning substitution wheel starts to grind. Willie Bloomquist? I think perhaps we'd better pray for rain.

Weather updates to follow, but don't forget to chat about the WBC as well. Can Italy knock Canada off, like they did Mexico, and all but guarantee themselves a place in the second round?
