Diamondbacks Spring Training: Gameday Thread, #13, vs. Brewers

Down the I-10 for a bit go the Diamondbacks, visiting the Brewers in Maryvale, and hoping to get a win, something they have managed only once in the past five pre-season games. The WBC games in Arizona also start, with Italy taking on Mexico at SRF.

Kevork Djansezian
  1. Tony Campana CF
  2. A.J. Pollock RF
  3. Aaron Hill 2B
  4. Jason Kubel LF
  5. Eric Chavez 3B
  6. Rod Barajas C
  7. Eric Hinske 1B
  8. John McDonald SS
  9. Didi Gregorius DH
+ pitchers Wade Miley, Chase Anderson, Joe Paterson, Eury de la Rosa, Eric Smith and Bo Schultz.

Definitely a different look to the Arizona line-up this afternoon: Hill and Kubel are likely the only names on it who will be part of the Opening Day equivalent, on the hitting or pitching side. The rest are a mix of up and comers e.g. Campana and Gregorius, and grizzled veterans, such as Barajas who made his professional debut when Didi was aged six! It seems the offense has been more of the problem lately: in the past five games, we've scored a total of 12 runs, and were held to one or zero in most of them. I suspect the losses of Miguel Montero, Gerardo Parra and Martin Prado are certainly not helping.

Meanwhile, back on our home turf, Pool D will be getting under way, with Italy taking on Mexico in an afternoon contest. Mexico have to be considered the favorites, and are also likely to have the vast majority of the crowd behind them, but I can't help pulling, as usual, for the underdogs here. We'll keep an eye on the results in that one in this thread too.
