Diamondbacks Spring Training Gameday Thread: #21, vs. Athletics + USA/PR

Another sold-out game at Salt River Fields: it does seem that the crowds are definitely swell as we head into mid-March. Brandon McCarthy gets to welcome his team-mates to Salt River Fields: can we build o the momentum of the shutout victory before yesterday's off-day?

Sunrise over @SaltRiverFields pretty awesome. Hope you're coming out today for our game vs. @Athletics

This will also be the thread for the World Baseball Classic game between the Americans and Puerto Rico. It's another "win or go home" game for the USA, but they were able to beat PR rather easily earlier in the week, so will be hoping for more of the same and to move on to the semi-finals in San Francisco. They will have to do it without David Wright, however, as the third-baseman has returned to New York to have his sore ribs examined. Maybe the injury plague has spread across the city to Shea? And in other, almost entirely unsurprising, news (H/T John Baragona):

Peralta had a 21.00 ERA in four spring appearances, allowing five hits and three walks in four innings, without a strikeout. He may still be a good player down the line - Al Yellon of BCB said earlier in the week the Cubs were quite happy to get him back - but at this point, he's clearly not ready for prime-time.
