Brandon McCarthy up for MLB Network Social Media Award

Time to get your clicking finger going, because Diamondbacks' pitcher Brandon McCarthy is one of the nominees for the first-ever MLB Network Social Media Awards.

Get your skates on, because voting only remains open through the end of the day, and Brandon McCarthy is one of the five players nominated in the category of "Favorite Follow", going up against the Orioles' Adam Jones, the Pirates' Andrew McCutchen, the Reds' Brandon Phillips and the Rays' David Price. There's a total of 11 categories up for selection, ranging from Tweet of the Year and #OMG Play of the Year to Favorite Follow and Socially Savvy Rookie. Though sadly, that's the only one which involves a Diamondback. Still, you might want to go and check them out, so you can assist with the anti-Dodger sentiment.

MLB Network will televise the MLB Network Social Media Awards on Sunday, December 15 at 6:00 p.m. Arizona time, recognizing the best in social engagement from the 2013 MLB season. The Miami MarlinsLogan Morrison will join MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger and Heidi Watney to host the show at MLB Network’s Studio 3 as winners accept their awards via various social media platforms. During the show, each winner will be announced live by @MLBNetwork on Twitter, and a social media ticker will stream during the show with live fan feedback via the hashtag #MLBNSocialAwards.

Yes, it's just a silly bit of off-season fun. But never forget, if Yasiel Puig wins anything, then so do the terrorists. #AnyoneButPuig. :)
