SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 16

It's going to be an interesting stretch run. While the top five have got something of a lead, only 7.5 points cover sixth (the last playoff spot) and 13th (the first relegation slot). So, still a lot to play for. Here are the quick results. Details, standings and upcoming game are after the jump.

AZ SnakePit 5, Blonde Streaks 5
Mizzoula Osprey 1, Alabama Slammers 7
Sofa King Juiced 5, MyWieterGetzLongoria 5
The Fighting Amish 4, Waffles 4
Los Wailoracles 4, Ignatius J. Rallies 6
soco knows 6, Lil Bitches 2
Phoenix Platypi 3, CompleteGameShutout 7

AZ SnakePit 5, Blonde Streaks 5
A well-balanced contest between your two mods ended level. Snake edged hitting, batting .330 led by Ramirez (.417, 2 HR), though the Streaks had Hitter of the Week Willingham (four HR, 10 RBI). But the roles were reversed on the mound: Blonde got four saves by Clippard, but Hudson won two for AZ.

Mizzoula Osprey 1, Alabama Slammers 7
The game of the week was the biggest blowout, reigning champions Mizzoula managing only three HR with a 5.46 ERA: Ramirez's eight RBI and Dickey's 15 K's were the sole bright spots. Slammers got nine RBI from Cespedes, a win and 13 K from Fister and Crisp had two HR + six RBI on their way to a big win.

Sofa King Juiced 5, MyWieterGetzLongoria 5
Sofa posted some big numbers: 105 K's behind Pitcher of the Week Kennedy (two W, 16 K) and 14 HR (LaRoche had three), but Wieter took all three "rate" categories, e.g. ERA. That, plus Sv + SB, got them a tie. Hanrahan had three Sv, while Granderson homered twice and stole a pair of crucial bases.

The Fighting Amish 4, Waffles 4
The week's third tie was the closest, HR and SB ending level. Morse led the Amish offense with three HR and nine RBI. Davis had six HR for Waffles - normally, that'd be Hitter of the Week, but all were solo shots! Wainwright got a W + 12 K for Fighting, Waffles countered with Hellickson's two W + 0.73 ERA.

Los Wailoracles 4, Ignatius J. Rallies 6
So close. The Rallies took WHIP by 1.0681 to 1.0690: that was the difference. Zimmerman (Los) and Samardzija (Ignatius) each had a W + 12 K, with Latos getting two W + 11 K for the latter. Rallies had as many SB as RBI (12), Butler driving in half of those; Los got two HR and five RBI from Heyward and Wright.

soco knows 6, Lil Bitches 2
soco's struggle for survival had a good week, though WHIP was even closer here, knows edging it by just 0.0006. Greinke had 14 strikeouts for them, with Chapman getting four Saves. For Lil, Kershaw had a W + 11 K, and Cuddyer three homers, on offense, soco countered with six Runs from Ethier and Youkilis.

Phoenix Platypi 3, CompleteGameShutout 7
Complete led all teams with 15 HR, Rizzo getting three with seven driven in. Stubbs (three HR, 10 RBI) was even better for Platypi, but they couldn't withstand a sub-two ERA from Shutout. On the mound, they also had a Win and 13 strikeouts by Johnson, offsetting the three Saves Perez picked up for Phoenix.

Amish vs. Longoria is the ESPN game of the week, pitting second and fourth placed teams. In Braun and Verlander, Amish had been anchored by two of the top dozen fantasy players in the game so far. However, Longoria are just as high-powered, with the same to be said for their Angels duo, Trout and Weaver. Should be a good one.
