I wonder how often two unrelated starting pitchers with the same last name go up against each other. Checking those who've started a game this season, there are a few other possibilities, but most of them are in different leagues e.g. Erwin and Johan Santana, which limits the chances severely. The most likely candidates for 2012 are probably Wei-Yin Chen and Bruce Chen - though the former did start for the Orioles against the latter's Royals, he faced Felipe Paulino. Shame we couldn't get Jason Bay in this game somehow, because the headlines would virtually write themselves.

I think this is a BattleMoses recap, but as usual, that's subject to late revision. Oh, and it has now officially been confirmed that Thursday will be Trevor Bauer's debut for the D-backs. I think late-afternoon productivity in Arizona may well take a hit as a result...

  1. Willie Bloomquist SS
  2. Aaron Hill 2B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Jason Kubel LF
  5. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  6. Miguel Montero C
  7. Ryan Roberts 3B
  8. Gerardo Parra CF
  9. Daniel Hudson P

Another day of for Chris Young, but otherwise, largely business as usual for the D-backs, whose offense certainly enjoyed the home cooking on the last home-stand, batting .343/.388/.657. Will that carry over to the road? As ZM already noted, this will be a sterner test for our team, but we enter play just one game back for the second wild card spot, though the race there is phenomenally tight. The Braves are one of those teams locked in a virtual four-way tie ahead of us, but have definitely cooled off. Starting this week's road-trip on the right foot will be a big help.
