A victory today, and Arizona would be assured of a winning road-trip. Which wouldn't be much of a surprise, because going in to this contest, the Diamondbacks are the only team in the NL West in possession of a record above .500 away from home. It's been the dismal performances at Chase, where Arizona are 7-12, that has sunk us in the first quarter of the season. Still, another game in Kansas City, against the Royals and their 4-16 record at home, should hopefully keep things moving in the right direction.
Line-up after the jump, and good to see a familiar face back in his accustomed spot.
- Willie Bloomquist SS
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Chris Young CF
- Jason Kubel LF
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Cody Ransom DH
- Ryan Roberts 3B
+ Ian Kennedy P
Yep, having made it back into the line-up as our designated hitter yesterday, Young returns to patrol center-field today, with Ransom taking over that spot. Interesting choice: I'd perhaps have used Kubel to DH, and put Parra in left, on the basis that (Parra's defense - Kubel's defense) > (Ransom's bat - Parra's bat), which is really how the math of that one works out. Offense hasn't been a problem that last couple of days for Arizona, and hopefully this will continue. That, and a good outing from Kennedy, should do the trick.
