Chris Young Reinstated From 15 Day DL

Hooray!
Hooray!

News that has been hinted at and intimated for the past few days has become official: Chris Young has been activated from the 15 Day DL. Young suffered a shoulder injury April 17th against the Pirates when he slammed his shoulder into the outfield wall at Chase. CY had been on an offensive tear to start the season, having hit 5 homers (which is still tied for the team lead with Aaron Hill), and had a staggering OPS number of 1.397. From all indications Young can swing the bat fine, but he still has trouble throwing. It is likely he will be the DH for the Kansas City series.

This means that A.J Pollock will be sent down to AAA Reno. He hit .229 with an OBP of.278 and an OPS of .611 and had a home run and 4 RBIs in his first (and probably not last) stint with the Diamondbacks.

For an offense that had been, for lack of less polite word, sputtering along the past few weeks, this comes as welcome news for us Diamondback fans, and while he probably won't continue where he left off (one can dream, though!), his return may provide a needed spark. Welcome back CY! We missed you!

UPDATE: According to the D'Backs twitter, CY will indeed DH and bat fifth tonight.
