Haven't we been this way before? It's kinda weird. Here we are, embarking on our second weekend series at Chase Field against these Giants - before we've even seen the Dodgers. Such are the vagaries of the 2012 schedule, but I think we'll happily settle for a full-on repeat of the opening set, where Arizona came out on top in all three games, albeit only just, winning each by one run. It was heart-stopping stuff, but was also as good as the season has got for the Diamondbacks. But the Giants have not exactly staked their claim as contenders, are still below .500, and can't hit left-handed pitching either.
Can Arizona get back on track, having beaten San Francisco the last seven times they've met? It's why they play the games... Line-up after the jump, 'charmer on the recap.
- Willie Bloomquist SS

- Patrick Corbin P
Odd to realize that Bumgarner is actually 13 days younger than Corbin. even though he'll be making his 59th start, and Corbin his third. We did well enough against the Bum when we first saw him, chasing him off the mound after just four innings, on seven hits and two walks, but he has won all his five starts since then, not allowing more than two runs in any of them, with a total of six earned runs over 35 innings. Not going to be easy, though I note Jason Kubel is getting the "tough lefty" day off, with Pollock taking his place in left.
