It's the house money game: this opening set has already gone well for Arizona: the series is in the bag, and if we can finish the Giants off this afternoon, it'll be a sweep, and our eighth consecutive victory over San Francisco. Given certain somebodies said the Giants wanted to "make a statement" in this series, you've got to love that. Of course, it won't necessarily be easy, but in his last five starts against the Diamondbacks, Cain's ERA is a not-exactly scary 4.33. The question is more likely to be whether Collmenter can bounce back from the terrible struggles he had in spring, up until his final outing.

Line-up and more thoughts after the jump.

  1. Willie Bloomquist SS
  2. Aaron Hill 2B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Chris Young CF
  6. Ryan Roberts 3B
  7. Lyle Overbay 1B
  8. Gerardo Parra LF
  9. Josh Collmenter P

Overbay and Parra get their first starts of the season, and are slotted in at the bottom of the order. Hill continues in the #2 spot after his two-homer game yesterday - his first such appearance since August 2010. The second was also the 100th home-run of his major-league career. Be nice of him to get his 101st when he comes to the plate in the bottom of the first, since that's what Arizona has done every time this year to date... I'm just hoping we get the good Josh: interestingly, he did a lot better the second time he faced the Giants last year, compared to the first, which goes against the expected wisdom.

I'll be recapping this one, so will drag the laptop into the television for my first FSAZ experience of the year, and reacquaint myself with Daron and co. Fingers crossed we can open the cupboard and brings out the brooms by the end of the afternoon.
