After the shake-up of the bullpen that was announced this afternoon, it does seem we will have a little more coverage for Collmenter's start than we previously anticipated, with Mike Zagurski and Joe Martinez able to pitch in the event of another ApoCollmenterylpse. Hopefully, they won't be needed, with some signs last time that Josh might be finding the right direction, his final line not helped by Wade Miley allowing the runners he inherited to score. Can he build on that and go forward? Arizona will hope so. It'd be nice if the offense, which showed up last night in unprecedented volume for the year, also stuck around.
Line-up and stuff after the jump.
- Gerardo Parra CF
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Jason Kubel LF
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Cody Ransom 3B
- Willie Bloomquist SS
- Josh Collmenter P
Poor John McDonald, a three-hit night yesterday, and he gets benched in favor of Bloomquist. What's a veteran presence to do? At least Bloomquist is not batting lead-off. This is Gibby sticking with the hot hand. STATS Inc tells us that Parra is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with 6 RBI and 7 runs scored out of the top two slots, compared to having gone 2-for-16 (.125) with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored elsewhere in the order. Ransom retains his spot, giving a third day off in a row for Ryan Roberts. One other factoid. Jason Kubel has the most outfield assists in the National League.
