It's a battle of the spot starters this evening, with both teams having to scramble and find a replacement for the scheduled starter - Cliff Lee and Daniel Hudson respectively. Both Kendrick and Miley will be making their first start, though they had experience in their respective rotations last season. The Phillies haven't see Miley in this role: Ty Wigginton is their only player with an experience against him, having gone 1-for-6. Kendrick has four career starts against the Diamondbacks, with Miguel Montero having done the best, going 4-for-6 with a double and a homer.
Line-up and news from the pre-game media chat after the jump. I'll be recapping this one, so you can expect a "Wade" pun somewhere in the headline. Suggestions welcome.
- Gerardo Parra CF
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Jason Kubel LF
- Cody Ransom 3B
- Lyle Overbay 1B
- John McDonald SS
- Wade Miley P
A curiously B-esque line-up this evening, containing no Bloomquist, Roberts or Goldschmidt. But with OPS+ figures for that trio of 62, 48 and 79 respectively, it's hard to argue that they are being unjustly robbed of playing-time. Couple of nuggets of news from Gibby's chat with the press beforehand, one good, one bad. Here are both, in convenient Tweet format.
Kirk Gibson said today he doesn't expect Chris Young back after 15 days and wouldn't say when he expects him back.

Stephen Drew is progressing, doing a vigorous workout yesterday. He is recovering more quickly.
