Reality check. If we lose, we could be fourth in the NL West by the end of the night. At the time of writing, both the Giants and Rockies are winning their games on the road, and they're only half a game behind the Diamondbacks. We need to shake the team out of the offensive funk which has them score a total of seven runs and hit a collective .194 in the current three-game losing streak. That won't win you man games, even with someone like Cahill on the mound, who has been excellent in his appearances to date. Beachy, however, has been better yet, with one ER in 12 innings....

Line-up and stuff after the jump.

  1. A.J. Pollock CF
  2. Aaron Hill 2B
  3. Jason Kubel LF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  6. Gerardo Parra RF
  7. Ryan Roberts 3B
  8. John McDonald SS
  9. Trevor Cahill P

No Willie Bloomquist. I am at ease with this decision, given he is 2-for-21 with no walks and eight strikeouts since the start of the Colorado series. However, it remains amazing how limited the line-up looks offensively, without Young and Upton in it. The latter is missing his fourth straight game, and Jack Magruder Tweets that J-Up " has not taken any swings since left thumb was drained Tuesday afternoon." Really, it's looking more like some kind of back-dated DL stint could be in the offing.

Keep calm and carry on...
