Who's up for another 4 1/4 hour, extra-inning game tonight? Anyone? Anybody? Hello... Hello... Is this thing on?

And we wend our weary way to the comfy chair once again, preparing to watch our Diamondbacks as they roll out in a third effort to get that tricky 81st victory. I dunno about them, but I know, after last night, I'm ready for the season to be over. It's one thing to take four and a quarter hours and win, or even have a loss like that early in the year, when we're all somewhat fresh. But, really: 159 games in, then you drop this on us? For context, of the 42 final series games played by Arizona prior to this year, only one reached even 3½ hours - the 10-inning contest against LA in the penultimate game last year took 3:47. And we won that on RyRo's walk-off slam, so it had a happy ending, at least.

It's not my recap tonight, but I wouldn't wish another contest like yesterday's on poor 'charmer. I was at least able to get a somewhat early jump on the write-up, because as soon as Zagurski showed up, I knew how it was going to end. He is to Diamondbacks games, what Jeff Goldblum is to Jurassic Park movies. "Oh yeah: 'Ooh, aah', that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming..." Which is a long, roundabout way of saying that I may not be about much for this one, even if we did largely get caught up on Tivo'd goodness this morning [Dr. Who = not a dry eye in the house]. Here's the line-up:

  1. Gerardo Parra CF
  2. Aaron Hill 2B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  6. Jason Kubel LF
  7. Chris Johnson 3B
  8. John McDonald SS
  9. Patrick Corbin P
