I'd like to thank Mrs. SnakePit for reminding me that today is Labor Day. Not working Mondays, public holidays don't register much, so I presumed today's game was a night one as usual, and was going to spent the afternoon watching televisual crap, then swan in here around 5:30pm to post the thread. Given it's a noon start, that would have been a bit embarrassing, especially since I'm recapping this one. Just so you know, there'll probably be some kind of "Labor" pun, involving whichever starting pitcher struggles most.

  1. Willie Bloomquist SS
  2. Gerardo Parra LF
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  5. Aaron Hill 2B
  6. Geoff Blum 3B
  7. Collin Cowgill CF
  8. Henry Blanco C
  9. Wade Miley LHP

B-lineup out there today, without Ryan Roberts, Chris Young or Miguel Montero. I am strangely okay with this - I think getting Young back healthy for the playoffs is more important. He has hit just .151 in 45 games since the All-Star break, with a .524 OPS. Normally, a BABIP of .190 would indicate bad luck, but not with his pop-up rate of 27%, which is 6% more than the next-highest NL player, Alex Gonzalez [And can I just point out that when you Google "Chris Young", the top results are all for some country singer I've never heard of, or the Mets pitcher. That's just wrong...]

Miley beat the Rockies when he faced them at Chase, and we beat Rogers the previous nights - he's now 0-3 with a 6.08 ERA over his past four starts. Thinking our B-lineup should be able to take him, but if there's a bit of deflation after the Giants series, I will understand. See you in the comments or the recap, assuming you haven't forgotten it's a day game as well!
