Ok, calling this game "irrelevant" is probably a bit of a stretch, since home-field advantage for the post-season and stuff like that are dependent on the result, as is Ian Kennedy getting his 21st win of the season. But even if that should come to pass, I somehow doubt this game will end up with a procession of players leaping like lemmings into the Chase Field pool. That particular thrill is gone: the next five games will be played with an eye on what is to pass next weekend, as the post-season moves in to gear.

Justin Upton and Miguel Montero get well-deserved days off, so that means CY in the #3 hole with Goldy in the clean-up spot. Still fairly optimistic about this one, simply because Kennedy has been so damn good of late. 12-1 in his past 14 starts, and an ERA since the All-Star break of 2.05. That's the man who will carry us as far into the post-season has he can. Full house at Chase tonigh: no doubt partly propelled by the RyRu bobbleheads, but there are only 15,000 of those, so two-thirds the crowd must be there to see the new NL West champion Arizona Diamondbacks. I like the sound of that....
