It's Talk Like A Pirate Day today, and we are lucky enough to be playing Pittsburgh. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a crucial base on balls late in the game from a visiting pitcher. Obvious headline will be obvious. It's also the first ever #DbacksTweetup at Chase Field, which at the time of writing, I am getting ready to head for. There's be a report on that later, and the recap will likely be delayed as Mrs. SnakePit and I make our way back from Chase Field. Hopefully after witnessing our magic number drop to four, and Kennedy's twentieth win.
- Gerardo Parra LF
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Chris Young CF
- Geoff Blum 3B
- Willie Bloomquist SS
- Ian Kennedy RHP
No line-up available so far, but I'm sure someone will update this later. Might even be me, if I can achieve wi-fi connectivity at Chase Field, but I would not rely on that... Though it might be fun to liveTweet during the Tweetup, though this would be remarkably self-referential. Anyway, ZM already covered this pitching match-up in his preview; with the Giants idle, this is a chance for the Diamondbacks to put another nail in their coffin with a victory. I'm thinking we can do it
Karstens skipped a couple of starts at the beginning of September, and his return didn't go too well, as he was tagged for seven hits and four runs in 4.1 innings. However, he did blank Arizona for seven frames back in June, during a streak of nine starts allowing two runs or less - though we got to the bullpen and won 2-0. Kennedy has not faced Pittsburgh this season.
Maybe we'll also get to see Jarrod Parker make his major-league debut this evening? That'd be nice.
