Remember when the Padres were relevant? It wasn't that long ago, either, but this is a franchise which has been on a roller-coaster the past five year, posting win totals of 89, 63, 75, 90 and (projected) 68. As the Diamondbacks have shown, the life-cycle to turn a team from zeros to heroes is increasingly-short, but the wheel also goes in the opposite direction. Last year, on this date, the Padres lost in St. Louis to drop out of first place temporarily in the NL West. This year, they'll likely have the second-worst record in the entire league. Something something Ozymandius.

A lot of important action going on elsewhere, with the Brewers and Giants both leading their games at the time of writing. Important for us to step up and follow suit, take one more off the magic numbers for both the division and home-field advantage. The Padres did get to Miley quite effectively when they saw him last Saturday, and we could do without a repeat. Solid looking line-up, but Petco can make run-scoring tough on any offense.
