Considering that the time of writing is around 2:30 a.m. on a day in which I've written a feature and a game recap, that at the very least I should be allowed the use of one horrible pun. I love this job.
Snakelet of the Day:
Marc Krauss: 3-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI, K
Ryan Wheeler: 1-3, HR, R, 3 RBI, HBP, K
Double-A: Mobile 6, Tennessee 3. (1-0) Mobile took the first game of the Southern League Championship Series against the Tennessee Smokies of the Cubs' system, finally receiving some big offensive performances to go with the stellar pitching they've received throughout most of the post-season. Those two performances came in the form of the lines above put up by Marc Krauss and Ryan Wheeler, with Adam Eaton, A.J. Pollock, and Jacob Elmore each singling to set the table for the big bats. Elmore also drew a pair of walks and stole a base, while Eaton swiped a bag as well. That offensive production would prove plenty for starter Pat Corbin and the BayBears bullpen. Corbin spun a quality start for Mobile, giving up a pair of homers but allowing just three runs over six innings of work, posting a 3:1 K:BB ratio. That set up a marvelous job in relief from the trio of Clay Zavada, Billy Spottiswood, and Evan Marshall, who each worked scoreless innings to lock down the victory.
