The Diamondbacks have failed to take advantage of two Giant losses. Not only could they be a half game up right now, they could be a game and a half up. It's Ace vs Ace here in the desert for Arizona and Los Angeles. Kershaw is good, no doubt about that, and he's good against us: 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (but 4 unearned runs given up) and 19 strikeouts this season. But look at that number of wins for Kennedy: 13, the same number as Kershaw. Kennedy's a bona fide staff ace, having handled the Giants nicely last Monday in San Francisco. He's got a 5-game win streak to extend. It's time to be the clotter here, Ian, and stop the bleeding...
- Ryan Roberts 3B
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Xavier Nady 1B
- Chris Young CF
- Miguel Montero C
- Collin Cowgill LF
- Cody Ransom SS
- Ian Kennedy RHP
Well, it's not quite the A lineup, but it's not the C lineup. At first glance, I'd give it a B+. Willie surely does need a day off, and at least Roberts stays at the hot corner with Ransom at short. I guess Gibby is pulling Parra for Cowgill because of the left handed pitcher. And Goldschmidt gets a day off for Nady to be back at first.
The Giants send Tim Lincecum to face the Roy Oswalt, returning from a stint on the DL. Their game starts at the same time as ours, so it's okay if some of you (aka me) are channel-flipping.
