Another weekend series with LA? Really?
Series Previews:
-
[DBacks.com] D-backs look to regain momentum vs. Dodgers - I'm a little surprised that we're going to Josh Collmenter tonight, but hopefully he'll step up and give us another good start.
-
[FS Arizona] Today on FOX Sports Arizona: D-backs at Dodgers, 6 p.m. - We'll face off against Chad Billingsley again- we beat him in our outing against him, so let's just keep that up, huh?
-
[USA Today] Los Angeles Dodgers - Arizona Diamondbacks - Really, we played the Dodgers a week ago. There's not too much more I can add to the commentary here.
In case you weren't following last night, the Giants were shut down by Cliff Lee and the Phillies, which means we're a half game out of first place. To quote the recap at The Good Phight, "Cody and his strange looking head struck out four (4) times tonight[...] If it hadn't been for Pence whacking balls left and right, Cody's 4Ks would have been my favorite thing about this game." See, no one likes Beady Eyes.
DBacks News:-
[DBacks.com] D-backs seeing signs of growing popularity - It's not going to be an immediate return to the ballpark, obviously. But a good season this year will lead to more fans in the stadium next.
-
[Bleacher Report] East Coast Television Bias Burying the Diamondbacks - Actually a decent Bleacher Report article? I'm surprised. But a good explanation of why ESPN keeps showing the same teams, while ignoring the interesting races out west.
-
[Venom Strikes] Pray for No Diamondbacks Market Correction - The Indians and Pirates both started the year surprisingly hot- as did the Mariners, though they aren't mentioned here- and all of them have stumbled. Can the DBacks keep up their press for the division title?
-
[AZ Central] Diamondbacks' Kirk Gibson spectacular as a manager - Look. Gibby's done good work. I think he's basically a lock for NL Manager of the Year, and he's earned it. But this sentence... "Managers get too much credit in baseball - except in Arizona." Oh, Dan Bickley. You are a paragon of ridiculousness.
-
[Tucson Citizen] Arizona Diamondbacks educating players on Twitter usage - The internet has certainly made interacting with players a different atmosphere than it was even a few years ago- anyone who's talked to Barry Enright or Logan Morrison on Twitter can attest to that. But it can also be trouble if the players aren't careful, and the team is working to make sure that our players are smart about it.
Around Baseball:
-
[Big League Stew] James McDonald throws seven, showers himself with Gatorade - That guy is pretty excited.
-
[Baseball Prospectus] Wezen-Ball: Analyzing "Six-Man Baseball" - Okay, so it was mainly theoretical. But an interesting look at what baseball might have been like if you played it with three bases and six fielders.
-
[Baseball Nation] Can't Anybody In The A.L. Central Play This Game? - Every team in the AL Central has given up more runs than they've scored.
-
[HardballTalk] Carlos Lee has more career plate appearances than the rest of the Astros combined - I don't think there's anything to add to this.
