Gameday Thread, #125: 8/19 vs. Braves

Daniel Hudson
RHP, 12-8, 3.76

Derek Lowe
RHP, 7-11, 4.89

A key series for Arizona. It's the last time this year they face an opponent over .500, while the Giants play an opponent below .500. So if the D-backs can keep their lead at its current 2.5 games by the end of Sunday, that'll be a big success. It helps that we do dodge the best of Atlanta's rotation, and San Francisco don't get to use Lincecum and Cain against Houston. But we need the offense to step up and score more than the 3.5 per game they've averaged over the past week. Given they arrived in Atlanta at 5am this morning, I hope they take their frustrations out on Lowe.

  1. Willie Bloomquist SS
  2. Gerardo Parra LF
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Ryan Roberts 3B
  6. Lyle Overbay 1B
  7. Chris Young CF
  8. Kelly Johnson 2B
  9. Daniel Hudson RHP

Well, the good news is, Parra up, Young down. The bad? Goldschmidt, if it happens at all today, will have to happen off the bench. Overbay did do pretty well against Halladay, so I can't say I am too upset, but I hope it's not going to turn into a platoon, with Overbay seeing the bulk of playing-time.
