You've probably heard a bit about Ian McMillan and his random act of kindness involving a baseball, which has received rather more publicity elsewhere, than I'd say it perhaps merited, along with furious debate over whether McMillan was told to hand the ball over by an usher, and whether the recipient's tantrum merited any reward. I'll leave those debates to those in the child-rearing business, or at least those not in agreement with W.C. Fields on the topic. But guess who's throwing out the ceremonial first pitch tonight? What, no Cody Ransom? Sheesh. I'm waiting for him, as his first appearance would mean Ransom then ties Corky Miller for the most seasons with less than 100 ABs by an active position player - both men will have nine. The all-time record, incidentally, is Tom Prince, who did it a dozen times. Of course, he did have seasons where he got more than 100 ABs... I'll have to do some more digging to see if I can find out whether Ransom has the record for players who never had a hundred.
Go, D-backs. Win, ideally.
