I spent a fairly fruitless hour today trying to find the final All-Star voting results from previous years. I've been able to pick up odd years here and there, but there doesn't appear to be an obvious central repository for the results. If anyone knows of one that I'm missing, please let me know. Anyway, we head back to inter-league play, to take on the A's in Oakland. Arizona has been wobbling of late, dropping four of the last five games, but so has the home team,. as Zavada's Mustache noted earlier today. Someone has to win tonight. Let's just hope it isn't the Giants.
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Stephen Drew SS
- Justin Upton RF
- Chris Young CF
- Miguel Montero C
- Wily Mo Pena DH
- Sean Burroughs 3B
- Juan Miranda 1B
- Gerardo Parra LF
+ Josh Collmenter RHP
I hope there was some kind of post-hypnotic suggestion implanted in Burroughs, to make him believe he is still playing in Reno, where he hits about .800. If that doesn't stick, then I sense we might be looking back on the bygone days of Moraness with nostalgic longing by the end of the night. What's the saying? Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice... We replace a man with a .520 OPS with one sporting a .542 OPS. Yes, yes: lovely story, dumpster diving in Vegas, etc. Is it bad of me not to really care about all that? Or, at least, I'd care more if he was batting .300. I just want a competent infielder, not a moral inspiration or uplifting life-lesson. Doesn't seem too much to ask...
