So, seven scoreless innings and a three-run homer it is, then? We will expect nothing less from Mr. Duke, who set the bar high with his debut, and thus assured himself that we will have entirely unrealistic hopes the rest of the way. He faces a Nationals team who did take two of three from the Phillies, but have shown themselves to be especially vulnerable on the road, where their 10-19 record is second-worst in the National League. If we can keep them under a dozen by the end of this four-game set, I'd be happy with that.

Juan Miranda is a late scratch due to illness, so Xavier Nady takes over for him. That's bound to hurt the offense, but I feel hopeful they can come through. I'm a lot more optimistic about the top of the order, now that Johnson and Upton are both returning to form. We will, of course, also be following the Giants who continue to dog us: since we took over first, they have won when we win and lost when we lose. But their game today will already be underway when this is posted, so they won't know what to do today, hahaha! Go, Cardinals...
