It won't be the end of the world if we don't win this game, or even this series. There's still more than 90 games left in the season, and an enormous amount can happen. But if the Diamondbacks are to make a statement, the next three evenings would be a really good time to do so, especially since they are 1-5 against the Giants to date this year. The team has been solid at home, where they are 20-13, largely because of the offense - that will need to find a way to keep scoring against the Giants. I'm thinking it could be a low-scoring series, so "not making mistakes" is likely also an important part of the equation, if so.

  2. Kelly Johnson 2B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Stephen Drew SS
  5. Chris Young CF
  6. Miguel Montero C
  7. Xavier Nady 1B
  8. Gerardo Parra LF
  9. Josh Collmenter RHP

Good job, we can platoon Nady instead of running Juan Miranda out there, given the Giants are throwing a tough leftie at us toni... [Pauses to bang head against the desk] I imagine it's because Nady is actually hitting .306 vs. RHP this year, with a .730 OPS, 58 points better than against lefties. But we're talking 62 at-bats there. I tend to trust more in his career splits, where in over 2,000 ABs, his OPS is 50 points lower. And even that .730 is still below Miranda's OPS vs. RHP. We'll see how it works out. I probably won't be watching much of it, but reserve the right to poke my head around the GDT and cheer recklessly.
