Roberts Named Winner Of Fan Vote Bobblehead Contest

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today that D-backs' infielder/outfielder Ryan Roberts was the winner of the Fan Vote Bobblehead contest conducted earlier this season and will have his own bobblehead distributed to the first 15,000 fans attending the Sept. 24 game against the San Francisco Giants during the last weekend series of the regular season at Chase Field. Fifty random fans will also receive a limited-edition bronze version of the Roberts bobblehead on Sept. 24.

Roberts was the leader among write-in votes from fans for the bobblehead promotion on the team's Web site from March 2-April 30, 2011. The bobblehead, presented by American Family Insurance, will feature Roberts in an action pose and include his well-known tattoos. Roberts is currently batting .257 through 55 games and has already set career highs with 10 home runs, 27 RBI and 9 stolen bases this season.

"I want to say thank you to the fans for voting me the winner," Roberts said. "It definitely means a lot to me. In this game, it is comforting to know you actually have people who recognize you and cheer for you. Winning a bobblehead solidifies the fact you actually have a fan base. I would also like to thank my teammates and coaches for helping me along the way. This honor is another of many memorable experiences I have had and hope to have as a D-back. I am definitely very appreciative."
