I wonder if Javier Vazquez plays Words With Friends. I bet he'd be really good at it. Anyway, a bizarre start time for the Diamondbacks this afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 4:40pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Not sure what the purpose was behind that, it'll they want to give the Marlins something of a getaway day, just not too much. As long as we give them something of a defeat too, I'm not too bothered when the game starts.

Certainly, looking at the pitching match-up, this is a game the Diamondbacks should win. With Timmeh going for the Giants in St. Louis, that makes it more likely to be a game they must win, if they want to stay in first. But Vazquez has been better of late: he shut out the Rays for seven and allowed two runs in six against the Dodgers. Those kind of outings have been more the exception than the norm, and Hudson, 6-1 with a 3.21 ERA in his past seven starts, has consistently been better.
The A-line-up is certainly in operation for the Diamondbacks today, so one hopes there will be a matching A-result, and we'll continue to lead the NL West as we move into June.
