A short string of results today: Mobile had the day off and another game was postponed. The remaining two contests were split, though we outscored the opposition 12-9, and probably should have won the game we lost, blowing a three-run lead with two outs in the ninth.
Snakelet of the Day:
Patrick Schuster (A-ball): 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
Patrick Schuster (A-ball): 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
Triple-A: Reno @ Salt Lake: PPD. Persistent rain throughout the region forced a postponement of Sunday's game between the Reno Aces and Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The game will be made up on Monday as part of a doubleheader.
High-A: Visalia 6 @ Modesto 7. An insane ninth inning here. The Nuts held a 3-2 lead, but the Rawhide stormed back to score four, only to concede three themselves in the bottom half, all coming on a two-out homer against Yonata Ortega. That sent the game into extras, where a one-out shot off Christian Beltre in the tenth was decisive. CF Keon Broxton got three hits, while there were two-hit games for RF Adam Eaton, 3B Matt Davidson and SS Brent Greer - Davidson drove in three runs. Starter Trevor Harden gave Visalia a quality start, albeit the bare minimum: three earned runs on six hits and a walk in six innings, with five K's.
A-ball: South Bend 6, Fort Wayne 2. Patrick Schuster pitched well for the Silver Hawks, throwing seven innings and giving up five hits, none of them for extra bases. That resulted in two runs, with one walk and seven strikeouts. He was helped out by two perfect innings of relief from Christopher Odegaard to close things out, and give South Bend their first three-game winning streak of the year. CF Ender Inciarte and 3B Matt Helm each reached base safely three times, with a walk and two hits, and two hits and a walk respectively, while C Raywilly Gomez also got a couple of knocks.
