We come to the finale, and if Joe Saunders can't get a win, in Petco, pitching against a team that has already been shut-out eight times this season in 33 games... Well, we might as well just make him ohfer the season. He's facing a team which hits .207 in their home ballpark, and is averaging just 2.5 runs per game there. Really, anything less than a no-hitter will be unacceptable. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but he's not going to have many better chances to get that ERA going in the right direction. But will an offense short of its middle infield be able to deliver?

After being taken out in the middle of yesterday's contest, Drew is not in the line-up due to 'groin tightness'. This is a bit of a worry. It's what kept him out of the line-up at the start of the year, and also caused him to miss a game earlier in the week. It's never a good sign for the offense when you lose your clean-up hitter and his position is taken by a guy who is an obvious #8. I don't look at the line-up and think RUNZZZZZZ! - but I was surprised by them the last time we put out the B-squad, so we'll see what happens.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers. Mrs. SnakePit is out with the SnakePitette at time of writing, doing mother-daughter things - I heard "pedicures" being mentioned, so was happy to leave them to it. 'charmer is on the recap after this one, and here's to us taking the win and the series.
