J.A. Happ
RHP, 2-3, 3.77

Less than two weeks ago, a loss to the Padres dropped this team into the cellar and we were, to quote the immortal Bloodhound Gang, like "Luciano Pavarotti on a treadmill - not going nowhere, slim chance we will." But now, if Collmenter can overcome Happ, and the Giants' moribund offense (three runs per game over the last nine) can't deliver, we could be leading the division by dinner. Who would have thought it?

The bad news is, looks like it's the B-Squad:

  1. Willie Bloomquist SS
  2. Ryan Roberts 2B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Chris Young CF
  5. Xavier Nady LF
  6. Juan Miranda 1B
  7. Melvin Mora 3B
  8. Henry Blanco C
  9. Josh Collmenter RHP

No Gerardo Parra, no Kelly Johnson, no Stephen Drew. I guess those four hits just weren't good enough to keep Stephen in there... More realistically, one wonders if his groin got tweaked or something, since he sat out a couple of games against Minnesota and Colorado, so it's not as if he needs resting. Hopefully Upton will return fresh after his mental break, and get back to putting good swings on the ball. Also, hope Collmenter can get back to throwing strikes, something he notably failed to do last time out.

Should make for a fun game regardless, with a little scoreboard watching thrown in. Almost at the one-third point of the season, and we have a shot at reaching there on top of the division. Mind-blowing. Let's get it done.
