Brian Duensing shows up at Chase for the game tonight, and finds Ron Gardenhire in front of his locker, holding a bat and a ball. "This is what you need to do," says his manager. "You take the stick by the thin end, and when the guy throws the ball at you, you swing the stick and try to hit it. And if you are lucky enough to do so, then you have to remember to drop the stick, and run, as fast as you can, up the white line on the right and stand on that little bag at the end." So Brian says, "With the greatest respect, Mr. Gardenhire, I do watch the game. While I know I am an American League pitcher, I think I do have a firm grasp of the basic ideas."

And Gardenhire replies, "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Delmon Young."

  1. Willie Bloomquist LF
  2. Ryan Roberts 3B
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Stephen Drew SS
  5. Chris Young CF
  6. Miguel Montero C
  7. Xavier Nady 1B
  8. Kelly Johnson 2B
  9. Ian Kennedy RHP

The top of the order looks a lot better with Bloomquist and Roberts there, rather than Johnson and Nady. Mind you, disappointed to see Nady getting a start at first, especially given how well Miranda handled the bat last night. But I am still optimistic we can win this one, with Kennedy shutting down the weakest offense in the league, and pulling the D-backs another game closer to .500.
