SnakeBytes 5/2: Reset Edition

Okay, so maybe we hoped for more from the Cubs series. But a split isn't the worst thing in the world, right? And now we've got a hot team coming in to town, in the form of the Rockies, but before that we have a day off to relax and breathe. Whew.

• [FSN Arizona] Aggressive D-backs steal one from Cubs - That has to be one of the stranger innings ever. Three walks, a steal of third base, a safety squeeze (by the pitcher), a balk, a wild pitch.... Three runs, and we only had one hit.

• [Dbacks.com] Key DPs help D-backs, Hudson net split - Any win is a good win, especially after seeing Hudson struggle in his earlier starts.

• [AZ Central] Diamondbacks hold off Chicago Cubs to close series - Putz on his pitch to get the game-ending double play: "Miggy's got all the answers." Good to see our pitchers trust him like that.

• [Chicago Sun-Times] Cubs can’t come up with a key hit - Meanwhile, this must be what it was like to play against the DBacks last year- the Cubs had runner at third with less than two outs three times, and stranded them. They went 1 for 14 with RISP- I think we recall what that sort of futility feels like to watch.

• [FSN Arizona] April report card: A for aggressiveness - Is aggressiveness Jack Magruder's word of the day? Or maybe Kirk Gibson's... Either way, it's a more entertaining brand of baseball than otherwise, even if it can be frustrating from time to time.

• [DBacks.com] Younger Drew has upper hand on J.D. - Stephen Drew has 22 RBIs to his brother's 5. Imagine if our Drew hadn't been on the bench for the first week of the season. As an added bonus, Stephen's not evil.

The records about wins, yeah, I'm there- unless something drastic changes, you'll never see a pitcher start 41 games, let alone win them. Ripken's Iron Man streak, maybe. But the hit streak? Most saves? You never know.
