I'm still miffed 'charmer didn't use my "One's More, With Feeling" headline for last night's recap. I trust this heinous omission will be corrected in the event of another one-run loss tonight: given that the past five games in which we have been involved have ended this way. Tonight, we turn to a man who has never started a major-league game before, to try and stop the streak where Messrs Kennedy, Hudson, Saunders and Galarraga have all failed. If he succeeds, we might have found ourselves a new favorite Diamondback.

I think it would probably have been easier if the entire team had actively sucked over the past five games. Instead, the starting pitching and bullpen have been grand, and while we've hit .237, that's not terrible. It's been the lack of clutch hitting last night that has doomed us, and that is supposed to be a myth. So basically, the last five games feel like we've been mugged by Bigfoot.
We'll see how long Collmenter lasts. If he can be economical, we might be able to squeeze six innings out of him, but that will likely depend on him being able to get through an inning on 15 or so pitches. Given one suspects the Dodgers might get used to his funky delivery the third time through, that's not necessarily such a bad thing, and it helps that the rest of the bullpen won't have been over-taxed.
We'll see. Let's just leave it at that: we'll see.
